Upper School Summer Scholars is open to students entering grades 9-12.

 
  • 3-Day Community Leadership Seminar (Grades 9-12)
  • Tuition: $300.00

    Times: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

    Instructor: Dr. Tara Ellsley and Mr. Kevin Dibert

    Upper School students have the opportunity to explore leadership techniques of decision making, problem solving, communication, team building, and service, while earning up to 10 community service hours. The first day will have activities at USchool, followed by two days gaining hands-on experience planning and implementing service activities at local nonprofit organizations (such as Broward Animal Care and NSU Preschool). Parents will be responsible for providing transportation for students to each day's location in Broward County.

    • Wednesday, June 11 - 9 am-12 pm - Broward Animal Care - 2400 SW 42nd Street, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33312
    • Friday, June 13 - 9 am-12 pm - NSU University School - Preschool - 7600 SW 36th Street, Davie, FL 33328

    Times: 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM
    *Upper School Core Academic Credit Course. This course fulfills credits for graduation and will be included on the student's transcript.

     

    Instructor: Denise Lewis

    This course focuses on the study of relationships of points, lines, and planes with an emphasis on deductive strategies and formal proofs. Students study congruent segments, triangles, angles and their relationships, line relationships, parallel and perpendicular, properties of polygons and solids, similarity and congruence, Pythagorean Theorem, circles, surface area, volume, transformations, formal logic, and properties applied to real life problems. This class is Monday-Thursday only. *No class on June 19 and July 4 .
